You cleanse. You tone. You serum. You moisturize. You exfoliate weekly. You even spritz with rose mist throughout the day to be sure your skin is getting any and all nourishment the beauty world has to offer. Despite pregnancy having you feeling like you’re going to fall asleep at the sink, you are doing it ALL. Well, we hate to be the bearers of bad news, but think again!

The good news is that your beauty routine can be even further enhanced, which means you could potentially look even more glorious than you already do (impossible!). There are a few methods to help you with a dull face during pregnancy, which we have tried and reviewed, so that you can take this opportunity to pamper yourself to the max during your pregnancy.

Strategy One:

Stacked Skincare Micro-Roller

The product:

The first iterations of rollers to seize the attention of the beauty scene are micro-rollers, which began their career at the dermatologist’s office and dermspas as a part of treatments and facials. A micro-roller may seem like a medieval torture device to some, with its mini-needles covering the head of the handle. And yes, you are going to roll those needles all over your face, so I guess those folks aren’t too far off. All jokes aside, it’s called derma rolling, and it’s a thing.

The claim:

In theory, the claims of the micro-roller make complete sense: these tiny needles poke tiny holes in your skin, stimulating collagen production and allowing your products to sink into deeper layers of your skin. If so facto, your products become more effective, meaning better results from your already powerful products. Fans of the micro-roller tout plumper more even skin, and less wrinkles as a result of their nightly torture…I mean, beauty…regimen.

The test:

In order to get the best results from your micro-roller, you’ll want to invest in a good serum. Do your thing: wash wash wash, tone tone tone, apply serum. Now, let’s roll. Gently take the roller in all directions across all parts of your face (spare the eyes please!). It will feel odd at first, but it should never be painful. If it is, you are pushing too hard—take it down a notch chica. Roll roll roll until you’ve rolled that whole beautiful face. Then top off with another layer of serum. If you use an additional moisturizer, pop that on, crank the A/C, wrap yourself around your maternity pillow and nighty night!

The verdict:

It works. It’s that simple. Dermatologists have long praised the micro-roller and now that it is so accessible to the masses (for only $30!), why not do it yourself? Plus, the at home model is much less intimidating, so even if you have a micro fear of needles, there is no need to fear the micro-roller. After a week of use, I felt like my skin looked more radiant. When I forget to use it, I feel like I see a difference and don’t look like my rested, glow-y self. It’s tough to ditch your favorite beauty products that are laden with magical but often unsafe plumping ingredients when you’re pregnant. The micro-roller made me feel like my clean beauty swaps were working extra hard to get closer to the potency of my pre-pregnancy routine.

strategy two:

Foreo Luna Play

The product:

The Foreo Luna Play is one member of a large family of T-sonic cleansing: imagine if your electric toothbrush and a rubber exfoliating brush had a baby and you’ll get the idea. The Luna Play is a little rubber ball with textured tiny nodules that vibrates. The tiniest member of the family, it's cute and compact…and definitely the entry level Foreo at just $39 vs. some of their upgraded models that can run you over $100.

The claim:

Foreo promotes the Luna Play’s ability to exfoliate while cleansing, revealing your glowiest skin. You’re already pregnant, why just glow when you can blind people with your radiant skin while you’re are at it? The vibrating T-sonic technology, combined with the rubber bristles are said to go beyond your standard exfoliating brush, removing up to 99.5% of dirt, oil, and dead skin. And well, your hands don’t vibrate, so…there’s that.

The test:

My Luna Play is a cute little number that fits in the palm of my hand. I splash some water on my face, layer on a nice lather of my favorite face wash and press the on button. I can’t help but feel like I should be brushing my teeth, but I have to admit it’s kind of fun. It tickles a little and the massage factor feels nice as I rub it over my face. If nothing else, in the first few uses, it makes me elongate my face washing time, which I’m sure is a positive thing that can improve skin glow during pregnancy.

The verdict:

I definitely enjoy the process of washing my face more than I did before my Luna Play. I have gotten used to the brief morning and evening face massage and would be sad to go back to regular old face washing. I can’t say for sure that I see such powerful results that I would up the ante and pony up $100 for one of the more advanced models, but I do think this entry level model is well worth it. My skin always feels fresh and super soft after I use it. I’ll be honest, the website looks like a whole bunch of adult toys and I have absolutely thought twice about leaving my Play on the counter when guests come over. That being said, I quite enjoy my face vibrator…ahem, Foreo Luna Play.
